Dr Aafia Siddiqui – A Victim of the War on Terror

Dr Aafia Siddiqui and her 3 children were abducted in Karachi, Pakistan, by the American authority in 2003, supposedly for her involvement in terrorist activities. For years, no one knew of her whereabouts. Two of her children were found in 2010, one is still missing. Dr. Aafia was detained at secret locations, where she was tortured and raped.

When she was finally brought to stand trial, it was not for her involvement with Al-Qaeda or terrorist activities, but for an attempted murder of American soldiers where she was detained. She is a Pakistani citizen who was brought to US to stand trial for an alleged crime that took place in Afghanistan. She was sentenced to 86 years in prison even though there was no evidence to support the case against her.
