My heart bleeds for the victims of the Paris attack last Friday. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain their families and friends are going through.
My heart bleeds for Paris in the same way that it bleeds for Lebanon that was attacked just two days earlier.
In the same way that my heart bleeds for the mass murder of students in Kenya.
In the same way that my heart bleeds for the Iraqis and Afghans who were murdered, tortured and raped on the pretext of keeping the world safe for terrorism.
In the same way that my heart bleeds for the Palestinians who, after six decades, still live under Israel’s brutal occupation.
What I find disturbing is they way people responded / reacted to the Paris attack. Lebanon was attacked in the same week, but I didn’t see the same outrage as for the Paris attack. Why do people behave as if some lives matter more than others?
Obama’s statement was most comical: “Once again we’ve seen an outrageous attempt to terrorize innocent civilians. This is an attack not just on Paris; it’s an attack not just on the people of France.” This coming from a man whose drones have killed and injured many civilians. Why are the lives of civilians in Pakistan or Yemen less valuable than those in Paris?
To all who blame Islam and Muslims for the attack, I say this to you: If you don’t know the difference between me and those criminals, then you are a part of the problem. By believing that the problem is Islam and Muslims, you have let the dark side win. By succumbing to your hatred and prejudice, by vilifying 1.6 billion people, you’re letting them win. Not everything is what it seems and by failing to see what is behind the smoke screen, you have let them win.
If right now, you think I’m just another wacko conspiracy theorist, you are a part of the problem because you are unable to see the game played by our politicians and governments.
“Either you are with us or you’re against us” was Bush Sr.’s ultimatum. Fourteen years later, how much safer are we? Keep in mind that ISIS didn’t exist prior to the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan.
Madness, said Einstein, is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different result. Fourteen years of waging war on terror has bred only more terror — it is an epic failure. More war, more bombings and more killing are not going to end this circle of violence. Isn’t it high time that we try something different? How about we do the opposite of what we’ve been doing?
Stop all wars. Stop the killing. Stop funding and arming them. Help people who have suffered much as a result of the war on terror to rebuild their homes, their lives and their countries. That’s the least that could be done, especially after Tony Blair apologized for invading Iraq — a ‘mistake’ he blamed on incorrect intelligence. US and UK have no qualms about spending billions of dollars on war. Spending a few billion more of their tax payers’ money to rebuild the countries they destroyed should be a non-issue.
If we want a safe and peaceful world, then we as humans must stand together and demand that our governments stop the war. It is US and her allies invasion of Iraq that has brought us to where we are today. The war has not solved any problem, but has created many. Enough!
Needless to say, Muslim communities are bracing themselves for anti-Muslim attacks. Mosques have received threats. Kinda funnny that one mosque received a call from a man threatening to shoot everyone in the mosque, and he doesn’t care if it’s a two-year old child. How charming! How very un-ISIS.
A number of countries have decided to stop taking in Syrian refugees. Let’s ignore the fact ISIS is the reason the refugees are fleeing their country in droves.
President Hollande called the attack an act of war and retaliated by bombing Raqqa in Syria. Yup, that would definitely stop terrorism. Just keep doing more of what doesn’t work.
Did it ever occur to you that this is exactly what the terrorists want and so many idiots out there are giving them what they want on a silver platter?
Lastly, perhaps a question many neglect to ask is this: Who profits from this conflict?

When I saw the headline that police found a Syrian passport on the body of a suicide bomber, I thought: “Yup, that’s very plausible. They found the passport of a 9/11 hijacker who flew into the twin tower. Passports must have been made from the same material.”
